Tuki appeals Centre for early forest clearance for Tawang NHPC projects
NEW DELHI, Aug 02: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki called on Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests, Jayanti Natarajan at New Delhi on Wednesday, and requested the Union minister to expedite the pending Forest Clearance of the Tawang Basin Hydro Power Project of NHPC. He reiterated the fact that the DPR for the Tawang Project would go for Cabinet clearance only after the forest clearance is given. He mentioned that NHPC is also planning to construct the tunnel from Sange to Jang which is also getting delayed due to the pending clearance. The CM explained that the tunnel is important from the strategic as well as tourism point of view. The Union Minister assured the CM that she would take up the matter on priority at the earliest.
The CM was accompanied by Tourism Minister Pema Khandu.
Earlier in the day, the CM called upon Union Minister of DoNER Pawan Singh Ghatowar to discuss among other issues, the state allocation for Arunachal Pradesh under the schemes undered by the Ministry.

Flash flood creates havoc in Tarasso circle
ITANAGAR, Aug 02: Heavy flash flood on July 28 in Taraso circle has damaged paddy fields, human settlement area and the Govt. Sec. School, Taraso, informed Taraso ZPM Nabam Eka. The flood also reportedly washed away half of the football field.
The ZPM further informed that a meeting was held yesterday to discuss if the course of the river flowing near the school could be diverted for safety of the school. The meeting convened by the ZPM and ASM was attended by Panchayat leaders, students, youths and general public and CO of the circle.
The ZPM appealed to the state government to provide special relief package to the victims of flash flood and FDR fund for protection of the said school.
Further, the Panchayat leaders appealed to the DC Papum Pare to visit the flood affected circle and assess the properties lost in the flood.

Though one pillion rider Bamin Batt, who received grievous multiple head injuries and leg fractures was admitted in a private hospital in Dibrugarh (Assam), he succumbed to his injuries around 4.30 pm today, informed Batt’s relative Bamin Hinda.
While confirming the accident, Khonsa police sources informed that a case no 49/2012 u/s 279/427/337/338 IPC has been registered and investigation is going on.
Hinda in a release claimed that CRPF authority had made a public commitment after the accident on July 29 to bear the medical expenses of both the injured persons. But the commander B C Sharma, behaved ‘indifferently’ with the victims’ relatives when they called on him at the Bn HQs the next day for financial assistance, Hinda said in his release.
Batt’s family had cautioned that the CRPF authority would be held answerable and it has to take responsibility if Batt succumbed to his injuries. Such ‘inhuman attitude’ of a paramilitary officer deserves condemnation, Hinda said.
APFCL team visits Patanjali food & herbal park
ITANAGAR, Aug 02: Arunachal Pradesh Forest Corporation Limited (APFCL) chairman Tani Loffa and vice chairman Jabring Venia yesterday visited Patanjali Ayurvedic Ltd. and Patanjali Food and Herbal Park, Padartha, Haridwar, Uttarakhand .
Both Loffa and Venia discussed in details with the Managing Director and CEO of Patanjali Food and Herbal Park (P) Ltd about investment potential in medicinal plant based industry in Arunachal Pradesh.
Informing that Arunachal Pradesh is blessed with medicinal plants, both the MD and the CEO opined that any project on this would surely lead to success and provide financial benefit to local people. Special emphasis was given on identification of medicinal plant species, its viability and location so that viable project may be prepared. They also assured to provide technical support and marketing guidance.
APFCL would take initiative in this regard by taking the help of experts, the release informed.

It was an overwhelming experience to see people crowding at Ramakrishna Mission Hospital in Itanagar, praying for the safety of Tongam Rina, associate editor of The Arunachal Times, after she was shot at outside her office on July 15 last.
Concern etched on their faces, the people gave us, the journalists of the state, hope, telling us that at last the people are starting to come out in the open in support of the journalists. The state capital witnessed uproar by various organizations demanding immediate arrest of the culprit/s involved. Condemnation poured in from all sections of the society.
And then, as usual, the concerned citizens of Arunachal were overpowered by the hostile citizens when police came out with clues regarding the case.
It is a known fact how people here perceive the media – media houses entertaining them the way they want to be entertained; newspapers being notice boards, publishing press releases which are of the least relevance or concern to the people but important to the groups who submitted the releases. If we fail to perform to their tune we must ‘bear the brunt.’
The fourth pillar is just a misnomer here, and everybody has a stake in the situation that we are facing now. From a common man to people at the top, the media is just a stepping stone which either takes them up or brings them down.

It was true on his part to say that the state police’s performance has been bad. But as we see and know that our system since time immemorial has always been out of sync, we cannot just blame the police when the people up there are to discipline them.
As the case progressed, Capital Police on July 25 revealed that it had apprehended 10 youth involved in the April 15 vandalism at The Arunachal Times office, adding that the modus operandi of the April 15 and July 15 incidents was ‘similar’ – that both incidents occurred on a Sunday and suspected the involvement of the same group.
And since then, the manhunt is on for the alleged mastermind, Yumlam Achung, who had planned the April 15 vandalism. As of now, police have shelved all further procedure in the shooting case and are concentrating on the vandalism case for reasons best mentioned above.
If what is being perceived is true, perhaps the July 15 incident could have been averted had the Capital police been more attentive to the vandalism case. If it is not, with the recent past of the absconding mastermind, we wonder if the obvious is playing its game again. (The writer is a freelance journalist. Withdraw land allotment rules: Forum
ITANAGAR, Aug 02: Expressing its strong resentment over implementation of Rule 127 of Arunachal Pradesh Land Settlement Records Rule of 2002 and subsequent office order dated on June 20, issued by Deputy Commissioner, Itanagar Capital Complex, Capital Complex Land Affected Redressal Forum (CCLARF) strongly demanded for immediate repealing / deletion of Rule 127 (I) & (II) of Arunachal Pradesh Land Settlement and Records Rule Of 2002 and revocation of subsequent order issued by the Deputy Commissioner. “The implementation of rules 127 (I) & (II) of Arunachal Pradesh land settlement records rule of 2002 in the Itanagar Capital Complex in particular and state of Arunachal Pradesh as a whole is completely against the right and interest of indigenous tribal people of Arunachal Pradesh,” CCLARF in a memorandum to Capital Complex deputy commissioner said.
“It is needles to say that rule 127 has been implemented by the authority concerned with malafide intention to prohibit the indigenous people from getting any land allotment, which is unconstitutional, undemocratic and illegal in the eyes of law,” the memorandum added.
The memorandum demanded for constitution of a committee comprising of representative of various sub tribes of Arunachal Pradesh Schedule Tribe including civil society for immediate formulation and adoption of special guideline and policy to safeguard the right and interest of indigenous Arunachalee people in the matter of land allotment in the state including Capital Complex.
It further demanded to withdraw or cancel any land allotment, if granted to any non Arunachal Pradesh Schedule Tribe on the basis of rule 127 and Order dated 20.06.2012.

Frozen Foods Centre opens in capital
ITANAGAR, Aug 02: Frozen Foods Centre, the latest venture of the food processing industry in the state catering around 120 varieties of frozen food products comprising of different vegetables and meat formally opened here today.
Inaugurating the Frozen Food Centre in a function, Trade and Commerce Director, Tokong Pertin called upon proprietor MD Enterprises, Mibom Dai and representatives of the food companies for innovating ways to process, package and market the organically grown vegetables and food products of the state. While lauding the efforts for bringing in the frozen food products to the people of the state, Pertin pointed out that India was the second largest food producer in the world and the food processing industry was growing at a very optimistic rate which a state like Arunachal Pradesh should also reap profits.

ITANAGAR, Aug 02: Resenting the alleged absenteeism by various governmental department staffs in Taliha circle of Upper Subansiri district, Charto Valley Welfare Society Taliha urged the district administration to intervene to ensure the government staffs stay at posting places.
In a representation to the deputy commissioner, the Society said that people are deprived in various officials works due to absence of government staff. Further, the society sought immediate action against the teachers who are not attending school regularly saying that may school in the Payeng and Taliha circle remain defunct. It also urged the authority concerned to make Kujen Nallah mini hydel project functional to alleviate the electricity crisis in both circles. Revive education system
Dear Editor,
Down through the ages educational institutions have been viewed as erudition shrine and playing a foremost role in evolution of civilization and it was given the peak precedence. Few years back the prologue of new systems could not edify need of our time. Today radical changes are seen and educations in state are an utmost nuisance both for haves and have nots.
Today schools are deserted places because of absentee teachers leasing the students to emulate them. In secluded areas of Arunachal the school runs for a month followed by exams and instantaneous result. The teachers would come to the capital or in the district headquarter for transfer and posting wherever they like. In fact some unavoidable circumstances like road communication; some totally unconnected and some gorge terrain compel the humdrum to occur. When basic commodities are hazarding what to talk of the contemporary facilities? Many teachers end up in the chalk and blackboard even if desire for further study would retire as appointed. Sometimes salary is in snail marathon and sometimes arrear is lacerate. There asset is their brilliant students who come up for the nation but some teachers never care about their students, for, their children are in the better school.
Worsening educational status is compelling many to run to nearby towns, town dwellers
to headquarters and to the capital. As Itanagar is the hub of bandh callers, vandalism,
attack, vehicle hacking, Pasighat is haven of teachers trying to get posted there.
East Siang schools are having teachers without a matter-
Sparing always has been a tool to spoil systems. One of major causes is the backdoor appointments of teachers without pedagogy. Education creates impact on everything and it should not be taken for granted. The Government is highly requested to revive the education system again, for, this prevailing system might lead to ultimate rundown of the civilization.

Dear Editor,
The proposal to shift the Greenfield airport to new site at Hollongi is not justifiable as huge amount had already been spent on survey and investigation work for the airport at Banderdewa. The authorities will have to spend another huge amount again in the name of survey and investigation if the airport is shifted to new location.
Therefore, I request the authorities to reconsider its decision at the greater interest of the people of Banderdewa and Karsingsa.
